You guys are pretty up on these things.

I am wondering how much involvement the Coast Guard had back when that sub went down off of Portsmouth, NH? Wish I had the date, 60's maybe, or the subs name for you but I do recall it was the first time the U.S. Navy ever used a submersible (or I guess a diving bell) for rescues.

Just seeing how good you guys are. Of course I could look this up myself but thought I would toss out the challenge.

That is the one I was trying to remember the name.

Thanks for posting the link.

Squalus was raised, towed into Portsmouth Navy Yard on 13 September; and formally decommissioned on 15 November. The submarine was renamed Sailfish on 9 February 1940. After reconditioning, repair, and overhaul, she was recommissioned on 15 May 1940, went to the pacific and during WW2 after Pearl Harbor sank several Japanese ships.
