CWO4 L L L I I I A A M M W S U retired on 1 November 1973.

He was the last uniformed active duty United States Coast Guardsman who had also served in the United States Lighthouse Service. His last assignment was as the commanding officer of Station Castle Hill, Rhode Island.

CWO4 William Musual retired from the Coast Guard on 1 November 1973. His last assignment was as the commanding officer of Station Castle Hill, RI. He was the last uniformed active duty Coast Guardsmen who had also served in the U.S. Lighthouse Service.

Training ships manned by the Coast Guard included the Maritime Commission steamship -------- ------. The training ship was an important command. This steamship was among the largest ships manned by the service prior to the Coast Guard joining the Navy in World War II. CDR Alfred C. Richmond, who commanded the -------- ------, the first Maritime Service training ship, later became Commandant of the Coast Guard.
