On May 20th, 1980 I was 9 and one of the 125,000 rescued by the Navy and Coast Guard during the Mariel Boatlift. In particularly my family and I met an officer by the name of Leonard Perry. I have no idea of his rank or even if he was Coast Guard or Navy liason. All I know is that this was the first US Military I met and given the ordeal we had just gone through and what I had seen in the days leading up to the Mariel boatlift he made a very positive impression on us. The following day we transfered to a smaller vessel to continue our trip to Key West Ofc Perry handed my father a small note with his address asking us to stay in touch. Over the years our families exchanged Christmass greatings. One day the cards stoped arriving. Over the years I have searched as best I could to find out if he is still around, it's been a while since my family has had a chance to say thank you. If you know or knew this officer or could provide information to help in my search I would appreciate same
