I'm 25 as of Jan 19th and currently seeking to go through ROTC and OTS to become a pilot. I've been in the USAFR for 6 years this November as an enlisted member. I read that the age limit for Officers is 29 if you are trying to become a pilot. I have 33 semester hours of college but that's it.I tried to speak with my education advisor but everyone is out on holiday break. Any tips or insight anyone could give me would be great. Thanks.
My two cents... I got in, and from what I could tell, the selection board LOVES a degree (if not requires it), and they LOVE a good resume with all sorts of extracurricular activities ( but I imagine with your USAFR, you got that part down). For pilot, you have to have a pretty high GPA, very likely a degree, and off the charts leadership stuff. The board accepts prior military before anyone else, so you've got that to your advantage. I've just heard over and over that you CAN get in, but as far as pilot...good luck. Age wise you're ok, even if you finish school, you have to be 29 by the time you are COMMISSIONED, which is BOT time (13 weeks). Start applying about a year before you want (or need) to go and you'll be fine. I started the process in March of this year, got an acceptance in mid August (I think), and the class scheduled was in February... so that's what 11 months, plus 13 wks BOT...14 months for the whole deal. But, like I said, good luck with getting pilot.
Oh, and I applied as a civilian, so your story may well be different.
