My husband took his EOC test on CDC Aerospace Maintenanace Craftsman about a week ago and scored a 62. Passing is 65. He studied but not very much. He will be retaking the test in December. Now everyone in his shop that has taken this test has failed once. Except for 1 person, who retook his yesterday (15th) and he failed again. Partial being everyone keeps failing is because they are taking a test that really doesnt have anything to do with their job.
My husband is in the MXG (maintenance squadron). Another reason my husband didnt pass was because everyone kept hounding him and pressuring him, telling him he better pass so that he can be the good example. So he was really stressed when he took the test, and also my guess the stress caused really bad test anxiety because he kept forgetting what some of the answers were and was just winging it.
Im now helping him stuyding by asking him questions from the CDCs. Plus he is on mandatory study 3 hrs a day at work, and he is studying an hr a day here at home, when I quiz him. Is there anything else we/he can do?
Also any tips on how to relax and stay calm during the test? Im more nervous then he is, because he told me a couple days ago, that he has to see the commander about his last test. And he's probably gonna tell my husband the same thing he has told the others who have failed. Fail it twice - and your out of the AF. So that REALLY has me worried. I dont want him loosing his job. He needs this job. I dont want the past 8 yrs of his life to go down the drain all because of some stupid test that has nothing to do with his career field. I've been praying that he passes this test.
So any advice for either myself, my husband, or both, please tell me. Thanks!
Pressure is part of not just being in the military but being an adult. People deal with it in different ways. Your husband needs to find a way to deal with it.
The material in the CDC not relating to the actual job is all too common. My career field got rid of 7-level CDCs a few years ago for that very reason.
With all of that said, here are some good study tips:
Do NOT study the URE questions only. If you do, you may pass but it will be close. You have to study the entire volume. Just keep reading and taking notes. When your husband does retest it will be a different test so the material that was emphasized on the first test may not be as much on the second test. That is why it is important to study all of the material.
He has been studying the self-test questions. And he also said that it would be the same test as the 1st test since they only have 1 test for what he is taking. Maybe it differs from base to base? I'll have him ask the person who took it yesterday and find out if its the exact same test or if its a different one.

just keep in mind discussion of the test violates Article 92 of the UCMJ just the same as WAPS testing. The upgrade tests for your husband would be the same Air Force wide no matter what base, just different versions for retesting, etc. You will never take the same test over.
Studying is all the advice I can give. There is no reason why there are that many failures...you could have him cross train to services but he might not pass the test for passing out towels at the gym.
