I AM A TSGT IN THE RESERVES, TRANSFERED FROM THE MARINE CORP (E-7). I UNDERSTAND THAT EVEN THOUGH I WAS A E-7 PREVIOUSLY AND ATTENDED THE MARINE SNCO ACADEMY IN QUANTICO VA (IN RESIDENCE), I STILL NEED TO DO THE COURSE 009 OR IN-RESIDENCE. DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY? CAN YOU ENLIGHTEN ME.

I believe you are correct. Get with your Unit Training Manager or First Sergeant to get the ground truth.

Also, please don't type in all caps. It is considered shouting and rude.

The Marine SNCO course taught you to be a Marine SNCO, the AF SNCO course will teach you to be an AF SNCO, the AF wants to make sure you're properly trained for the job you will be doing.

Information On Attending Sister Service Academies

Answer
The sister service school scheduling process is driven by the E-8 promotion release (usually occurs in March). HQ AFPC/DPPAT receives 79 quotas per FY for eligible MSgt’s and SMSgt’s to attend the sister service schools. The Senior Noncommissioned Officer Academy (SNCOA) sister service schools are the only equivalent PME for enlisted members. The sister service school scheduling is based only on the promotion process and the seats are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. The eligibility criteria is identical to the AF SNCOA scheduling process; the volunteers must be SMSgt’s, SMSgt selects, primary MSgts or alternate MSgt for that FY only.

Sister Service Schools and Eligibility Criteria:

SMSgt’s can volunteer for:

Navy
Army
SMSgt selects can volunteer for:

Marines – as long as they do not pin on prior to class graduation date
Navy – as long as they pin on prior to the class start date
Army – as long as they pin on prior to class start date
Primary MSgts can volunteer for:

Marines
Coast Guard
Alternate MSgts can volunteer for:

Marines
Coast Guard
HQ AFPC/DPPAT receives the following number of seats for each sister service school:

Coast Guard – 40 seats per year
Navy – 21 seats per year
Marines – 15 seats per year
Army – 2 seats per year
Upon receipt of the volunteer letters, signed by the member and the member’s commander, HQ AFPC/DPPAT validates eligibility and assigns the class based on the preferences on the volunteer statement. All volunteer letters must be faxed to DSN: 665-6243 or emailed to SNCOAScheduling@randolph.af.mil
Note: These seats are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis
Note: Not all volunteers will be loaded for the class requested if other members submitted their requests first. The seats will be filled in those classes closest to the volunteer dates as possible or placed on the waiting list if all seats are full

Waiting List:
If a member is placed on a waiting list for ANY sister service school, the member will also be loaded for an AF SNCOA class (based on the AF SNCOA scheduling process) when their primary, alternate or line number is next to be scheduled.
Note: HQ AFPC/DPPAT will NOT cancel a seat in the AF SNCOA class in order for the volunteer to remain on the waiting list. However, he/she can opt to remain on the sister service school waiting list until 30 days prior to the AF SNCOA class start date. Upon reaching 30 days prior to class start date, the member will be removed from the sister service school waiting list and MUST proceed to the AF SNCOA class.

The four sister service schools are listed below. The Air Force Senior NCO Academy is the only course that awards Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) credit.

Now the issue in this case may be the fact you a TSgt which means procedurally you are not "eligible" to have the course completed. Your best bet to get ground truth is to talk to AFPC or ARPC enlisted PME section, which ever is appropriate, and tell your story. They still may not be able to help you immediately but they might be able to hook you up once you put on MSgt.

Good luck

Sir,
I have contacted AFPC, the problem is that I was a E-7 when I took the course in the Marines. Now that I had to take a stripe off when I came into the Air Force Reserves, it has been very difficult for anyone to give me credit for this course in the Air Force. Any suggestions would be appreciated. My personal e-mail is hdad3@hotmail.com,if you have time to converse on this subject more.

Thanks
Gunny

You need to get your unit Training Manager and your commander involved.
