If i were to get my degree while i was enlisted, when my enlistment contract is up how would i go about getting commissioned? Also does the AF look down upon online degrees?
If you wait until your commitment is finished, you would be able to commission through OTS or ROTC. It does not matter where you get your degree from as long as the school is accredited.
A few things to think about: OTS fluctuates in numbers from year to year while ROTC is fairly steady. In recent years OTS has been highly restrictive. They have preferred technical degrees – though there have been a good number of folks who have gotten into OTS with non-technical degrees with stellar applications. ROTC produces a steady number of LTs. If you already have your BA/BS when your enlistment is up, you can work on your masters degree and participate in ROTC (This would be my recommendation). You could probably use your GI bill to cover some of the costs toward your masters degree in that situation. Good luck with your enlistment, undergraduate degree, and commissioning.
Yep, you can apply to OTS, and if you are not selected, ROTC will be there as an option. Furthermore, I believe you can apply for OTS while in ROTC as long as you are not yet a contracted cadet. As an additional option, you can start applying for OTS while still enlisted after you have completed your degree. So you will you do have several options.
