I am currently an E-3, 28 years old, and have just finished Tech school. I've only been in the AF for about 7 months and I know very little about it. I am very close to a business degree (about 2 semesters away). I know that the road to becoming an officer is an extremely difficult one that is highly competetive, so I am wondering if a college degree would help me on the enlisted side? I appreciate any insight or advice that anyone might have. Thank you very much.

Your undergraduate degree will help you on the enlisted side as you compete for E-8 and E-9 if you are not picked up for a commission. However, there are many commissioning programs available to you and I would exhaust all avenues before giving up on your dream of becoming an officer. The one problem you may have is your degree in business, many of the commissioning programs are looking for technical degrees such as IT, accounting, engineering, etc. Speak to the base ED office and see if they can assist you with a plan. Also, don't be afraid to discuss your future plans with both senior enlisted and officers in you unit. Good luck!
