Greetings,
I am a SrA and been in about 3 years and 7 months. Right now I am stationed at Fort Meade. (did a short tour in Korea before that) I've been here since March of 07 and have been out of my AFSC since then. I'm a 1N251 and I am currently in a 1N4's position. I tested for staff and missed it by 4 points. I really want to go to a 1N2's shop and go to 451 to better my career, but it's hard to do so in my current shop. There are 1N2 shops I can go to but, they are being jerks about it and don't seem to understand. My question is, how long can the Air Force keep my out of my AFSC? Is there something in the AFI? I feel like I am being put at a disadvantage since I've never really done 1N2 stuff. Any help would really be appreciated. Thanks. |

Are you filling a 1N2 slot on the manning doc? If so, you aren't out of your career field technically.
You'll stay there for 4 years under the new PCS rules. Even if you were doing special duty, I "think" 5 years out of the careerfield (MTL, MTI for example) you will lose your AFSC. Have you talked to your supt? |
