What are the requirements to do this course by corospondence?, and where would I find this info?.
I was told that I must be a MSgt before they will order the courses, but they didn't know what the requirements were. I know the in-residence is a MSgt requirement, but thought I could order the PME before then.
Thank You for any consideration in advance
PS I am a TSgt with 27mo TIG, 23Yrs TIS, but only 6.5yrs are Air Force, and have completed Course00009, as well as my 7lvl CDC training, so as far as I know I am only waiting for a slot to be promoted into in my AFSC.

Once you are selected for MSgt, you can take the SNCO Academy course by correspondence. Talk to the folks at your local education center.

Like FIGMO, I finished the correspondence course before putting on MSgt. You should be able to order it as soon as you have a line number.

As stated, you must be a MSgt Select (line #) and go see yor base education office. There is course 12 and 14, same course but one is media and one is online (although I wouldn't be surprised if the media has since gone away).

He is a reservist. It is different for him. Check with your education office.

For a reservist, you can take the SNCOA Course 14 or 12 as an E-6 if you are in an E-7 slot. I copied and pasted the requirements below. You can get them at http://www.au.af.mil/au/afiadl

Active Duty Air Force: ADAF personnel in the grade of E-7, E-7 select, or above are eligible for Courses 12 and 14.

Air Force Reserve (AFR): The following AFR personnel are eligible for

Courses 12 and 14:

E-7 (or E-8 promoted to SMSgt under the EPME Air Force promotion deferment policy) with at least one year since completion of NCOA, resident or Distance Learning

E-6 personnel occupying an E-7 slot are eligible to enroll with the approval of the HQ AFRC Enlisted PME Manager

NOTE: AFR criterion is based on military grade only; civil service pay grade or position is not used to determine eligibility.

Air National Guard (ANG): The following ANG personnel are eligible for Courses 12 and 14:

E-7 (no minimum time in service required)

E-8 promoted to SMSgt under the ANG EPME deferment policy

NOTE: All members must have at least two years since completion of NCOA, resident or Distance Learning. Air Technicians must meet military eligibility criteria to enroll; civil service pay grade or position is not used to determine eligibility.

It really isn't that bad. I found out I was promoted in June and am about half done with them already. Not easy, but it gives me something to do during down time while on the road.

I just finished my last test a couple of weeks ago. I was able to knock out 2 of the tests during my annual tour in June. None of the tests were really that difficult. I would say that section D was probably the most difficult test.

Moe, thanks for the vote of confidence!

Come on down to Maxwell and attend the full course! Unless, of course, you are more interested in just checking a block off on your record, rather than actually learning anything.

We'll take good care of you! (just make sure you dust off your FTF uniform!!)

Thanks for the invite, but I can't really squeeze a block of time like that into my life right now. I just got promoted to MSgt last month and will probably opt for the correspondence route to expedite meeting the squares on time. I DRILL OUT OF Maxwell, and am aware of the level of training, but do not see where I could fit in into my obligations.

I can see there is no need to stress the importance of PME to those who posted.

The very best to each of you.

I would love to come but at sixty five they might not welcome me with open arms. My uniform still fits although outdated by more than several changes... I retired in 82Smile
