Is it possible to cross train as a Tech? My husband is a Tech and would like to cross train into a different AFSC, but he feels it is probably not worth applying because he is a Tech.

Also, if a person applies to cross train and is not accepted, can there be negative repercussions in their work environment?

Yes, it is possible. But it will depend upon his AFSC and the AFSC he wants to retrain into. He needs to take a look at what AFSCs have retraining-in quotas. List is at the MPF.

There was a master cross training in one of the classes ahead of me in tech school.

I cross trained as a TSgt, then a month after I got back to my base found out I made MSgt.
My retraining was based on both a need for fewer TSgt's in my AFSC and same openings in my retraining AFSC. It's all about the slots.

My NCOIC crossed trained as a master sergeant.
