Negative -- don't believe flying is an acceptable outcome for this program. Check out the atch link. The 2nd para specifically states that you can't become a pilot through this program. However, About.com doesn't contain the most reliable info regarding AF "stuff". It's not bad for basic info, but one should not base any major decisions on what they read there. Recommend you speak to your Base Ed office, local MPF, or possibly contact a nearby college/university that has a AFROTC program. Good luck

Check the Air Force Virtual Education Center on the portal or better yet, go to you base education office and ask them. Don't forget that one of the major requirements is having completed at least 30 semester hours of college credit and a GPA of at least 3.0. From personal experience, if your GPA is less than 3.5 then you chances of being selected are low. Check out http://www.afoats.af.mil/AFROTC/EnlistedComm/EnlistedCommissioning.asp for more info but I definitely encourage you to talk to your base education office counsoller.

There is a line a mile long of people wanting to be pilots. Why would the air force send you to college on a good deal to make you what they can get a bunch of anyways? They put you in specific jobs and get you degrees in ares they have a hard time getting people to join for. An example would be meteorology. If someone on the outside gets a degree in that, the outside money is better than the military. Why would they join. Now the Air Force has a program that will get you that degree and force a comitment into that job for a set time period. Computer analyst/programmers the same situation.

the AECP is only for technical majors like engineering and such, and also strictly for Nursing major. If you do get accepted to this program, u have to serve for an additional 4 years i believe. this programs purpose is to fill in the critically needed jobs in the AF.

Not knowing your age or if you're active duty but have you considered the USAFA? Or any of the academies?
