I retired, but was on terminal leave, started processing with the VA and still had retirement physical stuff to do... so I still had my records signed out...
Well guys and gals, I know where my records are, am I the only one?
Before I turned my medical/dental records in, I made three copies of each - one for VA Hospital in Fayetteville, one for the local VA clinic, and one for me. I also made a copy of my service records.
I thought I kept mine when ets'ing.. turns out I have copies of just about everything else.... orders, every LES and every certficate..
turns out my medals and medical records are the only 2 things I don't have.. I know I had them, wife says we lost alot of stuff when our basement flooded.. so I think that might be the cause
I made of copy of my medical and personnel record before I retired also and I basically have all of my military records with me. I retired in 1996. After hearing about how the military were losing veterans records while I was on active duty, I decided that I should go on ahead and make a copy of these records to prevent this from happening to me.
