I ETS from my unit in 2005. They mailed me a copy of my records. It did not include a DD214, Sepration orders, or NBG22. I don't have a valid ID to get on base,so I've been calling the unit with no response. I called a neighboring unit only for them to tell me that my old unit closed. I wrote St. Louis for a copy but they sent back a copy from Basic Training/AIT. I called Archives and they said they don't have a copy. Okay so now where do I look? How do I get a copy if my unit never made one? Seems the old UA never completed the files. So what can I do? Who can help me?

This is one where I would contact your member of Congress, and ask their military/veterans coordinator to help you. The DOD has to have a record of your seperation.

While you were a member back in 2005 you had to have AKO (Army Knowledge on Line) Go to that site and look under PERMS. You will find all of the records you seek...You NGB 22 probably was sent to you...however if you moved and never informed your Unit...What can I say?

You can also go to a Recruiting office for the Guard and ask them to do a request for records from their end to your State HQ....You might be surprised to find that those records you need have not been sent down the tubes yet caused by that "Mobilization" word..... What happened to your DD 214? I take it you were mobilized..if you were not...all you get from the Guard is a NGB 22...

I can't log onto my AKO because I am no longer active. My account expired. I never moved.

OK..but were you mobilized at any time like to Iraq,Afganistan or Homeland defense?

Do what I stated before on my last post...I will guarantee you that if you go in to a National Guard Recruiter and tell him you need the documents for Recruiting purposes he will get them faster than any other way...

I have never been mobilized. I will contact National Guard recruitor but I don't want to go in National Guard. The Reserves recruitor said they couldn't do it. I am debating though, which could I get more money from to help me with my school loans. I graduate in May with a Bachelors degree so I want to be an officer. I am thinking about Army and Navy Reserves and the Air National Guard. What do you think?

The UA fromthe Battalion said she couldn't find any records. I will check with a National Guard unit to see if they can find records. I keep trying to access the AKO but it will not let me. I also emailed them but no response yet. I wrote some letters this week to offices so I will give them until next week to contact me. I will stop by National Guard office though. Thank you so much.

Answer: If you were never mobilized, you will not have a DD 214...except for Basic Training..you have to be Title 10 or Title 32 over 179 days to get another one. Your discharge paper would be a NGB 22...nothing else.

Answer: Why did you waste your time going through your Old Bn???? GO THROUGH YOuR STATE HEADQUARTERS!!!! You can get on base with a Pass that you would get at the front gate.

Answer: Who said anything about enlisting with the place you go to get help with your problem??? You really do not know as of yet which one you want to go to....However, I would try to get my records and FASTER by going through the service you were first in to get your records..as they would get them quicker for you!!!

Problem found: The UA did not create NGB22 and did not have orders cut for separation. Now how do I get them since the unit no longer exists?

You unit was part of a larger organization, work your way up the line.

You certainly have me puzzeled...

Answer: Your Unit DOES NOT create your NGB 22..YOUR State does..after your unit sends a Request for Discharge..You are makeing me think that maybe...just maybe..you were on Stop Loss because Maybe Just Maybe...Your Unit was on Alert for Activation..and Maybe you decided seeing your ETS Date came up you decided to ETS???

My next question to you is: How is it possible that the Unit never discarged you?? They have to account for you somehow..You would have to be on their "Bad List" for which every commander has to explain the whys to the Adjutant General of your State....

Everyone has a eight year MSO..I bet you did three Active and five inactive..Somewhere you are on someones list..IRR or somewhere..You will not just drop off the face of the earth..

Tell Ya what.. I feel sorta like I have a interest in finding out the exact facts so I can help you..Go to my profile add as a Friend..and I will send you my AKO Address. Then you can send me all the info, Unit, dates, ect..and I'll send your info through my "Old" chain..who will get your stuff. I am willing to do this only because I cannot believe what you have related on your posts have happened..because if it did yours would be the first time it has in NG History.....
