I was med discharged in Sept 2004 and filed for compensation early 2005. Most everything I filed for, including the reason I was discharged, was denied because my medical records could not be located by the VA. Letters received stated the VA-SMRC and the Regional Center in Columbia, SC were not in possesion of my records and they could not be located. I told the VA and my service organization where my records would have been routed throughout my discharge so someone could locate them. No luck so I started myself, calling Ft. Campbell and Scott AFB. No luck there either. I gave up for a while but the pain from old injuries has become too much to bear physically and financially.

I called the VA toll free number again recently and they stated my records had been sent to the Regional Center in Columbia, SC in March of 2005. I then called the Regional Center and the VA Medical Center, both stating my records had never been received. I spoke with Anthony at the VA-SMRC a few days later and he checked into the problem. My records had been received by the SMRC 3 weeks after my discharge in Sept. 2004 then supposedly forwarded to the Regional Center in March 2005 and showed in transit. I was called a few hours later by Pat at the SMRC and told Anthony had my records in hand, they never left the facility.

Now my records are at the Regional Center, I have another copy in my hand, and my claim is under complete review. A few more days and I would have been writing a letter to my senator, which still might happen if things don't go right after this review.
