My great grandfather passed away yesterday, and they will not let me bury him in a veterans cemetery with out his dd214. I dont have the time to wait around for one to come in 4-6 weeks. I have family waiting to get tickets. His files I guess were destroyed in the 1973 fire. What can i do to get one quick. please please help

was he a member of the VFW or AMERICAN LEGION
Any hope of speed will require clout, they have some. Even if he was not a member they will probably help if possible.
Warm up to the idea of a regular cemitary. they can't move mountains.
They may provide military honors if they got time to put it togeather, my guess is their good at short notice.
You still need the records for a government provided bronze head marker.

dont buy that get a hold of dav,i worked for the va for 10 yrs.im also a life member of vietnam veterans of america,no record were destroyed dav proved it,think about it try to burn a phone book u cant only the edges burn i just got a head stone for my brother in law.free your gramp can honor to e-mail me at vulcan54@frontier.com tim i will help you all i can im a disabled vet my self and will fight 4 all my brothersin arms i check my mail every day or more there is hope

It has always been a good idea to get your records together at the time of discharge to insure that you have a complete set of documentation in case you have a later claim.

Make sure that you do so way in advance of any other actions by the VA
