Does anyone have info on when book payments/stipend from the VA arrive to member? Does the book stipend come after classes start or when housing allowance is paid to member? My wife starts classes on 11 Jan 2010 and curious when will her book stipend is paid from VA. I believe the housing is paid the following month, Feb 2010 for Jan. Thanks Larry G.

Larry, If your wife is using benefits transferred to her from you under the Post 9/11 GI bill - she will receive no book stipend and no monthly housing payments. If she is a veteran using her own VA Educ Benefits and using Post 9/11 Gi Bill benefits - she will receive the book stipend within 10 to 12 weeks from when the school certified her enrollment and the housing allowance is always paid after the end of the month she attends classes - again payments will not start immediately because of the backlog of claims at VA.

Thanks RCC for the info. I am retired as of 1 Sept 2009. I am aware that as active duty we would not receive any housing or book stipend but what if retired, will transferred benefits to members family receive housing and book payments? I can not find any clarification on this issue. It looks gray, LOL. Thanks again RCC.
