Its Mezzy I'm just on my wifes account as her computer is up and I'm getting ready for bed.
So the three things that may help is as follows. 1. Letter from yourself stating that your knee is not an issue and give examples of things that you do to prove the point (i.e. I run and cycle as well as hike and have done a duathlon or two. Show what activities you have been doing.) 2. Make an appointment with the local VA and tell them that you are requesting a medical clearance for active duty. They knew exactly what I was needing when I made the appt. 3. You will need a letter from the doctor stating that you have not utilized the VA system since your discharge. This will be a seperate letter from the medical clearance letter. MEPCOM and USAREC will require these. Also what will also help is if you have witnesses to your activities have them write letters as well, they do not need to be notarized. Essentially what you are doing is your providing the documentation to prove that your knee is not an issue. Your personal statement is the start. Then the VA (A goverment agencies doctor) is giving your their stamp of approval. The letter stating that you have not utilized the VA system shows that your knee has not been a henderance. The witness statements shows that your not trying to get one over on the goverment as these people have nothing to gain by your re-enlisting in the Army. If you don't have witnesses then enter a 5 or 10K race, you need to make yourself look like the most fit person on the planet. Now with that being said, as my Recruiter told me, they have a way of making you prove it. Little known fact, that I didn't even know until I was informed by the Recruiting Staff. USAREC can call for a PT test if there is any doubt, make sure you can pass that damn thing. I'll end it there as I have noticed that this is getting wordie and I've been up all night long working. Any other questions, comments or concerns please feel free to ask. Later |

Hey guys and gals, little update on my progress, well I called to do a follow up with my recruiter and had been informed that somewhere along the lines my packet got dropped, which 10 years ago would have been a huge problem, but with today's technology its just another email that needs to be sent. Man I love technology. So we are back to an answer in two to three weeks until I hear anything. Minor set back, but that is all it is. Minor at this point. Its not over until USAREC says no.
Just thought I would let you guys and gals know. |

Its me again, just a quick update. Recieved a phone call from my recruiter that he had recieved an email from USAREC stating that they had recieved my packet and have started the Med Review and should have a determination within the next two weeks. So there is progress. The packet made it to USAREC. Yeah.
