Medical and Dental are pretty basic; for Dental all they did was take X-Rays @ Sill; For Medical they took down medical history, checked the system for what shots needed updating, and then gave you the shots. Part of the whole Medical Processing is Optical where you go for your eye exam - very quick and not too accurate if the results of many of my Platoon mates is the norm.

As for PT Shoes - you are supposed to be taken to the small PX on 95th side to get shoes, this isn't set in stone though. Most of us just went to the main PX on soldiers time and bought them ourselves. No matter what the case though, you will be buying them - you get a $250.00 Eagle Cash Card (taken out of your first pay) that is to be used to pay for those things you need (PS - Don't pay any heed to them when they say it will be useless outside of Sill; you can use the card at the PX on WSMR when you finally get there).

If your running shoes are decent you may not have to buy new shoes. Don't let them talk you into new shoes unless you need them. They tried to talk me into new shoes. However, I had brought a pair that the saleswomen said was authorized and one they actually sold.

I figured the Med/Den was pretty basic.I was curious about the running shoe thing. They should just eliminate that and do PT in boots like I did and the way it used to be..I havent seen many soldiers in the sandbox running around on patrol with Air Nikes. Thanks for all the help...future 68W.
