Yes you can, You just have to let them know before they get you the plane tickets. There were a few that they didn't let go with family but they were going straight to AIT.
That is correct for Fort Sill as well. There are some case-by-case issues that the Commander will deal with though. All information will be passed out toward the end of the course. HOWEVER, it does not apply to you if you are not in graduation status (successfully completed all course requirements).

what types of special cases? i will not be going to ait and need to move my family to my new duty station. would that be considered a special case to allow leave? just curious so i can prepare things for my family. if not how does it work? i was single when i was active before and i have no experience moving a family in the military.
Once you are in grduation status, you will be given orders to your new station. You will not receive the orders until the day before graduation. Once you leave WTC, you report to your duty station within 2 days and all your worries will be taken of there. You in-process and get squared away. You are authorized 10 days permissive TDY (free leave) to get your family together. You must sign at your new station first.

if i understand you, then i will not have pinpoint orders prior to leaving for wtc as my recruiter had told me?
If your family is not actually coming to graduation, when will they be released to head to the airport and how will they get there? Also- is the graduation date for WTC at FT Sill still the 12th?
Rules for use of vehicle after graduation(Fort Sill WTC) 1. Parent or spouse drives 2. At your own expense 3. 350 miles per day (allowed 2 days travel to report to AIT/or orders report date if going straight to a Unit) 4. Inform your Drill Sergeant and chain of command early to get approval from the commander.
Graduation Pass (Fort Sill WTC) 1. All Soldiers including non-graduates not pending adverse action (UCMJ) are allowed off-post overnight pass prior to Graduation Day. 2. On graduation day, off-post pass after graduation ceremony and awards. Based on your government travel time depends if it's overnight or a day pass. For example you may have government transportation to OKC airport leaving at 0100-0900; you will only get a day pass to ensure that we ship you. 3. On graduation day, non-graduates get a day pass and return that evening. The next day they start re-training on BRM or PT or start physical therapy for their injury. You may ship to another battery based on your situation.
I'm wondering the same thing as Katesome. How long after graduation till they get to come home? My husband is at reception now waiting for Class 516 which is supposed to graduate July 8th or 9th. I read on here that they have 48 hours to ship them out, but he was told by the cadre at reception today that he could be there another 10 days for 'out processing'. Which is it?
I graduated in Feb. We Graduated the 12th and most of us started shiping out the 13th at 1am, 3:30 am, and through out the day following 90 percent were gone that day depending on when flights left Oklahoma city air port. Out processing takes place prior to graduation.
