I am a SSG and these are my experiences. I was active duty Navy a Master at Arms (MP) going through the Blue to Green program and I will tell you PT in my opinion is easy at WTC dont sweat it.
I left to Ft Sill on 23JAN2008.

1. Expect to be at Ft Sill for awhile I was there for 5 days but there were soldiers that have been there for two weeks. If your active duty switching over get your powers of attorneys done before leaving your service you are in now and everyone dont be a dumb ass bring all your legal documents original birth certificates and marriage and divorce stuff people screwed that up. And if your coming from a other service active duty your pay is going to be messed up for about a payday cycle dont worry and yes it sucks.

2. Dont bring a lot of crap fellas Im telling you dont. Bring what is on the packing list and about two sets of civilian clothes AND some basic toiletries and meds common sense **** you will be doing road marches.

3. Ft Sill sucks but you will have to understand that these people push through so many people when I went through there were 200 of us and plus the new recruits so yes financing will suck just bare with it.

4. LEADERSHIP ha ha dont **** over your soldiers you are a student just like them they go through leadership like crazy for example you may be a regular joe then a team leader to squad leader and damn it your a platoon SGT.

5. The PT well its PT and its easy when I was there there were two PT tests but, if you passed the one up in Santa Fe which has a high elevation then you were good no more tests so do what I did and Pass it up in Santa Fe and yes coming from sea level its a *****.

6. You guys will get sick believe me all 200 of us were sick they call it the Ft Sill crud so prepare your selves.

7. Uniforms were issued the first day.

8. Rifle quals its easy and its fun plus down at white sands well theres a lot of bus time going out to the range in fact some of the ranges we went to were in Ft Bliss yeah so there is a lot of nap time and you better use it lol.

9. Ok dont fricken freak out you will be doing CLS and sticking each other with IV's. That **** was pretty funny just dont pick a dumb ass as your battle or else yu will get poked over and over.

10. DONT TAKE ANYTHING SERIOUS IF YOU GET SMOKED WELL YOU DO AND JUST THINK IT WILL ONLY HELP YOU BE STRONGER.

Recomendations I dont care what you were or where you came from DO NOT SHARP SHOOT THE CADRE OR INSTRUCTORS. And what ever MEDICBEARUSAF is bringing is good you will get a chance in FT Sill to go to the PX. Any questions just ask. And if your going 35M or down to Ft Huachuca after I got info for you.

Did you actually get a CLS certificate? I graduated WTC at WSMR in May and realized in AIT that we never got certificates. There's nothing in our records either so basically we never did CLS as far as the Army is concerned. I'm just wondering if it was just my class that this happened to.

I graduated 8/15/08 and didn't get a certificate. WSMR as well. You'll have to get qualified agian I guess, plus it's a yearly thing like gun quals. So just think of it as our meaningless M16 qual that we have to requal on agian. It's cool cause I like making things bleed so CLS and 16 quals will always be a blast!

How do they treat you compared to people just coming into Basic Training the first time? Are they less in your face and a bit more relaxed considering they know everyone there has already been through basic, or do they act as if you're a private just coming in?

It is the NM National Guard and yes there are a few on power trips but there are alot who are very professional. The problem that I had with instructors there was that most of them apparently had "issues" like one had gotten busted for DUI and one was a straight up drunk who actually got his ass chewed by the 1SG for smelling like liquor on a training day. They treat you better than in basic training unless you act like they need to treat you like a basic trainee. If you do as you are told and follow the rules they are relatively easy on you.

that was one of the problems in 2005 with the nm guard when they were at knox. that and cadre trying to sleep with wtc students. I can guarantee a few of the female students didnt pass the course without help. several of them failed the pt test multipal times and couldnt fire an m16 to save a soul.

well you cant complain if you volenteer for a job. WTC sounds as if they irioned out some of the issues. You only get the level of training that you put in to it. The only way I see it becomming as good as BCT for a soldier is to make a WTC training center and have perminate party soldiers teaching the course. They also need to take the non-nco cadre out of the picture.
