Can anyone tell me if the PT standards for WTC are 60/60/60 or 50/50/50 as for BCT. I have prepared myself for better than 60 but am trying to settle a disaggreement
Someone please tell me I'm right so I can make him run an extra 3 miles for 2 weeks(if I'm wrong I have to cut the run down by 3 miles, not cool). |

I'll quote Vargas before he blows his top at this one... : )
"I don't know why this keeps getting misunderstood. Going to AIT...50% / Going to your unit...60% Regardless of what anybody tells you, that is the way it goes here at Fort Sill, OK. Trust me, I work here, I grade your PT test, I ensure you have AIT or UNIT written on your PT card to ensure we know what standard to grade you on. I don't mean to seem irritated but that question has been answered literally over 100 times. Not your fault, Quaymar, but people put out bad info and don't really know the right answer." |

Thank you for responding but lets stop a second a take a deep breath, relax, now it was not that serious of a question. I am not trying to upset anyone or ruffle any feathers, this was my first post on here. I did try to find the answer in the previous posts myself, searched thru many but did not find the answer as you just broke it down, so thank you for that.
But I do understand now how it is done there now that you explained Unit vs AIT I did not realize it was broken down like that for WTC also. In the 80s I reclassified from one MOS to another, went to AIT again but was still required to do 60% this is why I asked. Apparently this to has changed since then. I was just arguing with him that prior service should be held to a higher standard because they've been through this before (BCT and AIT I mean) they should already have thier mind set on doing more than new recruits. I don't maybe I'm wrong. On another note I see how you (Cadre) can get frustrated with the posts, but same as you tell some of the posters to think before you engage and read the posts carefully, before blasting someone cut us some slack, not all of us have been posting idiotic posts for years on this forum. I am just an old soldier who misses serving its not about the money or the economy for me. I like to think of my self as a reseonably intelligent person as I am sure many others do, but forgive me for asking another question, maybe be a dumb one but what exactly is a "QUAYMAR"? If it makes you feel better to answer by blasting go ahead I can take it, I know it's not personal. Guess I have to give up 3 miles |

It wasn't a blow up at you chairborn it was quoted from a different post with the same question. I just copied and pasted it. nobody's harping on ya. : ) But I tell ya what. I will do an extra 3 miles tomorrow for not clarifying that it was a quote. I was chairborn at one time too (92 - 96) as a 75B. now going back in as 19K (M1 Crewmember) so im gonna need the extra 3 miles... : )

It's ok I didn't take it personal never do. To be honest I thought you just needed to vent a little over some of the crazy posts I've seen especially those complaining about being treated like PVTs in WTC.
The army is and always has been what you make it. You make it hard for yourself by not following the rules or codes of conduct then thats what you get back, hard times. I was chairborne but trying to hold out for MP. As I mentioned for me it's not about the money or the economy crisis, I'm pretty much set, I just want to get back in and serve but not behind a desk this time. I still don't know what the term "QUAYMAR" means though This message has been edited. Last edited by: chairborne09, |

Quaymar is a fellow member. No hidden meaning. FYI And tell the other Prior to aim for the max not the Min. That is not the way to go. I don't know why so many people aim for the Min. instead of trying for the Max and feel good about it. Just my rant in general. Oh by the way, I would make him/her run the extra 3 miles for just striving for the Min. |

LOL I agree I should push him more, I am still doing my 8 miles he's doing only 5. Our family say we are going thru a mid-life crises wanting to go back in our mid 40s but we know we can do it. Hey at least we are not out buying fancy convertibles.
And thanks for the definition |

Like milrtime said, aim for the max. I'm 45yrs old and was able score above 60% at WTC in April. If you shoot for 50% you are setting yourself up for failure, because I've seen alot of soldiers being sent home, because they can't pass the AFPT once they get to AIT. I'm at FT. Gordon and I have seen it happen to many times and I've only been there for 8 weeks.

Great assignment I was there at Ft Gordon from 88-92 C/551, don't know if they still call it that but I worked at the student MILPO, wouldn't mind going back.
As for the APFT we are both above minimum, my last score was 248 not bad I think considering I'm a 45 year old female and been out since 98, my friend is a 43 year old male out since 97. Run is not a problem almost have that maxed 94%(18:23). Situps is my biggest problem can only do 42 although its passing it's only a 70% too close to minimum. Pushups so far I am at 84%(27 reps). |

Ft. Gordon is perfect for me right now, because I live only 2hrs away. :-) So I get to go home every weekend. I got the Army in 87 and didn't do to much working out if any when I got out. Run 16:20, Sit-ups 42, and Push-ups 40. I guess if I was to work on it I could do alittle better.
