I think my ship date for my 19 Sep 2008 Course is a bit abnormal. I'm supposed to leave on the 9th, 10 days prior to the start date. Is this standard? What on earth would make it necessary for me to leave 10 days prior to my course. I could see 2-3 days for in-processing but 10 days seems like a waste of my time and Uncle Sam's $$$
The average person spends about 7 days at inprocessing here at Sill. Maybe a bit long but Sill inprocesses bacic trainees as well as all WTC personnel. It will be okay!
Your lucky your not leaving on the 21st like a lot of ppl did. 19sept is when my class is scheduled and I was supposed to leave meps on the 21aug, but a eye exam has me leaving later. Also DS is the 19 sept class at sill or WSMR. Thanx
My ship date is 20080910 and start at WSMR on 20080919. I'm looking forward to the training. I am 45 yrs old and am going in as a 68M which I don't really know alot about this MOS. Nutrition Care Specialist...sounds like diet counselor.

Hey Everybody. I to am going to WSMR with start date of 20080919 and a ship date of 20080910. I understand that we get to WSMR on 20080910 or 20080911 and the reception starts then. From there, the time between then and 19th is reception
Last Jan I was there for 5 days, however there were soldiers there 2 weeks prior to me getting there. They have to wait for the whole class to get there for example there was 200 of us.
My husband left MEPPS 08/20/2008 for Fort Sill he arrived at WSMR 08/29/2008 and he started WTC 08/30/2008 His reservation date is 09/19/2008 for WTC at WSMR so are far as I can tell he is ahead of schedule.
johnj21...Expect to spend at least 1 week in Oak. I just returned from WTC. The process in Oak was one of the most un-organized, un-professional events I have ever attended. WTC on the other hand was quite the adventure, you will have a good time. One piece of advise...get in shape BEFORE you ship. You need to be able to pass the pt test prior to shipping.

You have to keep in mind that at Ft. Sill they are still dealing with the IET(Basic Training) soldiers and they take priority during in-processing,so if it seems unorganized there's really nothing that can be done until they completely seperate IET and WTC.You also need to keep in mind that this is the Army, not the Navy or Air Force,it's completely different and requires alot more discipline on your part,do what you're supposed to do,and be(on time)where you're supposed to be. We're all adults, if you act like one, you'll be treated like one. I do agree with you on the PT, get in shape before you go, Army PT has 3 phases(preparatory, conditioning, and maintenance)at WTC the PT is geared more towards the maintenance phase(as it will be when you get to your unit),so its up to you to take care of the preparatory and conditioning phases.
I'm here at Fort Sill, right now. And I'v been here for 3 weeks. It doesn't matter what your orders say. Yes you should only be here for 4 days, but more than likely you will be here for at least 2 weeks. And let me tell you. It Sucks!!!!!!! You get treated just like basic training privates, there is no respect here at all. you sit in the bleachers for 14 hours a day doing nothing. I can't wait to leave for white Sands and do some WTC Training. So if your comeing . BEWARE....Sgt Sheapard, Sgt Garay is cool. Sgt Anderson is not at all.
