Howdy,
My ship date for WTC was today. I was all set for Sill and to start WTC 20081121. Showed up to MEPS at 0500. Had my Med Inspect. They start to get my packet in order to ship and then I was told that I do not have to attend WTC. I said I need to see this in writing so here is the info.
The following only applies to Army Reserve and National Guard.

I have a copy of the USAREC Message in front of me. I do not want to type the hold thing tonight so will only type the main part.

My Honorable Discharge form the Army was in 1988 and I am not going to WTC. Wish I would have known this a week ago.

Good luck and Godspeed,
Ozzy

I wouldn't want to retype the whole thing either. Good luck and best wishes!

Too bad on the WTC thing, I hear it's a lot of fun.

Roger that. I was looking forward to the refresher. Have been reading this site since Jan and getting ready.

The reason I posted this info is because it would have been nice to have known a few weeks before. That way I would not have had to cancel some work stuff. So hopefully this will help someone else.

Am still set to go to other training in Dec for 9 weeks.

This is a NEW message, but an OLD subject!

The Nov08 message rescinds a previous message from Oct08 that did not mention those who've attended Army/USMC BCT, and enlisting into the ARNG/USAR do not need to attend WTC.

Those going into the ARNG/USAR from prior services must attend, and if going Active Duty from any prior service must attend.

The message corrected information left out.

You're recruiter should tell you if you need according to AR 601-210. ARNG has their own Enlistment Criteria Manual until the new updated AR 601-210 is published... hopefully in the next month.

If you are going into the guard or reserve, this pertains to you. If not, disregard.

It's simple guys/gals... SOLDIERS!

If you've attended Army/USMC BCT and enlisting into the ARNG/USAR... You don't do WTC UNLESS going Active Duty.

If you're prior service from another branch... You'll attend WTC in place of BCT.

There are only a couple things that kill me about this message. First the year of the message is 09 (but that is according to fiscal year) but after that that ACTUAL message number is XXX. Even in the message it refers back to USAREC MESSAGE 09-011, so where's my message number. Second this message is dated 13 OCT 2008 at 1800 hours Eastern Standard Time and cancels out a message not even created yet "Dated 23 OCT 2008". So lets cancel something that we have no idea about and exsists 10 days in the future. If you can get me the numbers that exsist for this message I will look it up

USAREC MSG WTC

Don't you know by now that the Goverment has the ablity to travel through time?

Joking aside. I am looking at the hardcopy. Whats posted is whats on the paper printed for me at MEPS, except line #8 was deleted my the MOD because it had the point of contact phone number and the name of G3.

Not knowing USAREC's SOP on assinging message numbers your guess is as good as mine on why it was done this way. I can tell you that the Master Sgt that printed this out wrote on the paper "08064". Which I now see that has to do with USAREC message 08-064, rescheduling procedures for warrior Transition
Course (WTC). Dated 25 Feb 2008.

Good luck trying to understand why the Army does what it does.
