So I went last Monday to MEPS for my over 40 physical. I got the results back yesterday and my recruiter said they had to send a waiver up because I had high cholesterol. I found this shocking because I had my levels tested by a civilian doc 2 months ago, just to be prepared. My civilian doc said my levels were abnormally low for my age, which is excellent. I went to my recruiter to see the test results. By the time I had arrived he said the waiver was approved. I looked at the lab results and and low and behold my levels were extemely low. So, I recieved a waiver for low cholesterol. Thought that was funny. Anyway, I get to sign next week!
It really depends on WHAT level was low. LDL is good to high and HDL is good to be low (I hope I have that right...) Triglycerides are also supposed to be at some level too. So, you cant just assume low is good.
But likely, you simply have a GREAT level and the army could not process it as it was outside of some number on some form. No thought at all put into it.
Same thing happened to me when I took mine. My good cholesterol (HDL) has to be 40 to meet Army standards, mine was 37, needed a waiver, which I got. All my other levels were great.
