Just curious here: Been a while (81)since I took a per-ship physical. For us over 40 folks is there anything extra like the MEPS physical? Also anything besides height/weight,breathalyzer,urine?

This may be a little dated, but when I shipped there was nothing. No ht/wt, no alcohol screening/UA, no update to the questionnaire... nothing. That was 2000. Might also depend on the MEPS you ship from.

Im assuming you have already had all your medical tests performed and whatever waivers if any processed,if so its similar to the medical clearence you need before you pick your job(Height, weight, range of motion(no duck walk just hands dexterity(sp) and touching your toes 10 min total if your lucky, they ask if anything has changed since the last time, etc. If you pass that ,you pick your job and get your ship date. When you arrive to ship out you will do this one more time,if your good to go you leave. You have to make the ht/wt or your a no go.Good luck...future 68W..PS im in the same timeframe as you..old guy...lol.

Sadly if you ship 15Jul then you will be stuck at wonderful Ft. Sill for a bit; Classes are now (according to scuttlebut) every 28 days or so.

They won't have you do much @ Sill, once you in process you will do some details, stand CQ, have your soldiers time, and memorize your Creed & Army Song.

Good Luck - you are gonna looooove it in WSMR.. really Wink (if the tarantulas don't get ya, the snakes will)

I shipped April 2008 and there was no pre-ship medical. I went to MEPS and sat there while FNG's got their physical. They didn't even do a height and weight. All the poking and prodding will be done at Ft. Sill. I wasn't even hwt/wt'd until my 2 PT test, at Sill. It may be different because I am in the ARNG.

I think this is the case for most people... I was active duty both times they did this to me ('97 and '00). They have already cleared you once and they don't want to run the risk that you'll fail something the day before they get their hands on you.
