I just had this last week. Basicly a normal physical with the addition of an extra vile of blood drawn for a colesterol check and for men a prostate exam finger up the you know what. Not as bad as it sounds but you have to remind the MEPS people that you are getting a over 40 physical they can get so rushed that this is skipped and you will have to come back in to do this later.
i had mine early july, healthy except for cholesterol. The doc told me it was almost a given that a guy over 40 would read high, but that the waiver was automatic if at acceptable levels. It took almost 5 weeks for the approval to come through. A litle frustrating, but one step closer. hoping to get my rank determination done next week and ship as soon as i can. And yes, the prostate violation is as bad as you think. a necessary evil, tho. good luck.
I went to take my physical yesterday and everything went GREAT! I went and took the Glacoma test today and again all went well. I go for the EKG test tomorrow so again I'll keep everyone posted.
Sounds like you're on a good track to get back in. Don't let the process of jumping through hoops get you down, it's all worth it once you get to sign that contract!
I went for the EKG test this morning and as expected all went well. I should get to go see my job counselor the end of next week according to my recruiter.
I ended up having to do the fasting cholesterol test THREE TIMES!!!!
Was about 2 years ago now. Normal physical, additional questions/concerns by the doctors, EKG, Glaucoma test, cholesterol, and my personal favorite the whole arm up the A$$ trick... and no cuddling afterwards either, I felt so whorish and violated...
Army regs now state you have to have a PHA every year (everyone...) and for >40 you get the EKG and Cholesterol done too. I just did it last weekend at drill. They are looking closer at >190 cholesterol levels now i guess. Probably flag you, which means no schools. Bummer.
hello all, I'm 40 and finished my over 40 phy at meps ft. Lee. I got what my recruiter called "a picket fence" and waited 3 weeks for my blood work to come back. When my blood work came back today they had to send a wavier for colesterol. From what I have read so far and from the recruiting station commander (who is over 40) has said this is par for the course for someone my age? and not to worry.. I am in good health, run 4+ miles 4 times a week to get in good stamina for bt and can pass my APFT with scores b/t 65-80 respective for each right now . I am more than itching to enter the service(aspiring to be in 88k).This process for a first timer at 40 is a long one. I'm concerned that BT & AIT will not be in line with e/o and I will need to delay entery in order to get that specific class and mos if at all, will I have to choose a diffrent ait & mos? Is there anything i can say or do to get my AIT & MOS assuming the waiver is a non issue and enter asap? Is there a way to speed up the waiver process without ****ing anyone of or is it a hurry up and wait thing? Thank you all in advance and for your service. Scott
I also finished this at Ft Lee VA last week. Waiting on EKG results & lab blood work. That lovely part of the exam is called "DRE". Digital Rectal Exam. I got back in line three times before the doctor noticed..... joke. Luckily the doctor was Asian and had small digits. Wondering what date you will be offered for WTC . . . . this winter would be fine by me.

I just had my physical about two weeks. I will take you almost all the morning and believe me is a Full Test, starting from hearing test, urine test, complete physical examination and in my case EKG,Glaucoma and more Blood Test. But at the end of the morning a complete luch, courtesy of the DOD. I received the results about three days ago, and I need to re-check my blood sugar levels and cholesterol levels, which I already did in order to present a waiver request. I had the lucky to have a very expert recruiter that is guiding me all the way. Hope to tell you the results soon. Army Strong!
Remember what was stated in earlier posts. Your medical facility or MEPS may not be equiped to perform the glaucoma and EKG. You may end up doing those on another day or at another facility. Just be prepared to be there all day and keep a level head.
I went to a private optometrist and got a standard eye exam which the glaucoma test is included. My civilian insurance paid for it all except the $10 co-pay. (I don't wear glasses or contacts and have 20/20).
