KC, laptops and cell phones are allowed, but as far as laptops, they are discouraged due to the chance of it being broken or stolen, Ft Sill will not accomodate or be held responsible for damages to your equipment, cell phones are almost mandatory, you will have free time in the evenings to use them, and NCOs have an extra week where you will have more access to use your laptops if you DO bring them, but there is no WiFi in the barracks and reception is very poor. just a fair warning: KEEP IT LOCKED UP!!!
and as for basic, its not strict, it all depends on your cadre you will have your wall locker inspected before you go on your pass after graduation by the CSM so there are certain standards but it is NOTHING like basic, and i myself am prior AF i know what you mean as far as folding six inches and keeping it wrinkle-free, just keep it neat and orderly and you should be just fine
good luck! PVT Tarr, Lauren J. C Co TSB 42A

Are the barracks just like basic (ei.folding clothes, insane cleaning, etc)?
That is correct. Nco's expect to spend an extra week. You will have extra priviledges, such as wearing civilian clotes after duty and ewhen you not in class you are free to do whatever it is that you do. Cell service at the 95th reception BN is great. When you get to 1/79 it sucks. Laptops are no big deal. I had an internet card and did fine. It was a little slow but it worked fine. There is better reception near the px when you have pass on Sundays. The cadre dont care if you have phones, laptops or electronics. They are your responsibility. You will usually get off duty after dinner chow so you can use your stuff. Wall lockers were inspected once for us by BN SGt maj. It was very informal. He basically checked to see that things were clean and organized. There was a set locker SOP but wasnt followed to the T. As long as your stuff is clean and neat you wont be messed with. The DO'S you must know are the Soldiers creed which you say every morning. The Army song and if your an NCO the NCO creed. KNow your M16 info too. As long as you are squared away the cadre wont be in your face at all. I think we were smoked twice the whole time. It boils down to You made the choice to come back so you have to push yourself.
Hey, I have a few questions. I have yet to sign my contract but talking to my recruiter he seems to think I do NOT have to go to WTC, he says its mainly for folks without ARMY experience, never graduated basic, or have been out for ages. I am prior Army, have been out 5 years, and out of the IRR for 1? Will I go to WTC or not?
Is there weight lifting / or a gym available?
Can I take my suppliments, IE, Protein, kre-akline,ect?
are POV's allowed?
I am interested to find out about AIT as well... GYM? SUPPLIMENTS? POV? CELL PHONE?
In WtC from what I am told it is for people coming from seperate branches and prior Army with a break longer than 2 or 3 years. There is no gym time due to it being a training enviroment. On Sundays during your pass you can go though. They tell you no supplements. Thermogenics were everywhere. No powder mix for sure. Some of the guys were taking Hydrogycut and simular items. 5 hour energy boost were extremely popular. Especially on the Pt test days. NO POV's allowed at all. All electronics you have are ok but are your complete responsibility. PSP, laptops cell phones, dvd players, you name it... it was there. Depending on what your AIT regs are things change. I am 92M and I am treated like permanent party. Off post priviledges on all breaks and off duty. POV to from class and off post whenever. I dont walk hardly anywhere unless I want. It all depends where and what you do.
