11883947- I am still not getting a clear answer for my start date. It's either the 9th or 16th.
brndnvargas - I saw that I get everything, but if I already have uniforms, an ID (I work full-time and use my CAC often), etc., do I take those things, or just get all new? Thanks for taking the time to respond!!
Either way, you will still get new uniforms when you get here. Show up in civilian clothes, maybe just a couple "outifts" and when you inprocess, you will get four complete uniforms! If your ID card is still good (and from the ARMY) that will be ok.
How much time do we get between graduation and shipping out to AIT? My class graduates on a Thursday if that makes any difference. I ask because my wife is wondering if it's worth the trip to come down from Ohio to see me. If it's only for a few hours or even a half day, it wouldn't make too much sense I don't think but if it were the whole weekend, that's another story.

Randy, they were given overnight offpost passes and told NOT to drink but they did anyway and got into a brawl (with each other) at a bar and a few times, several Soldiers were late and missed graduation (hangovers!!!) So, to help eliminate that, pass is until midnight for both family day and graduation day.
Quaymar, we have up to 48 hours after graduation to send you on your way to AIT/Unit. A large portion of the graduates leave in the early hours the day after graduation and sporatic times throughout the next two days.
Good to see you back here DS Vargas. I've been away for awhile myself. I was assigned to 2nd Platoon (Delta Dawgs) at Ft Sill and graduated from WTC on 19 Dec 07. I re-entered active duty military after being out of the Marine Corps for 18 years. To put it in simple terms - "Prepare yourself physically and mentally". Come on, we are all prior service. You can't say you don't know what to expect. I was 38 years old when I went to WTC and enjoyed the 4 weeks of training. I didn't enjoy the whining though. Suck it up and move on. I guess I'm just "Old School". Good to be back here and looking forward to hearing from everyone. DS Vargas tell DS Norris & DS Griffith that "Nation" said hey. They'll remember me.

OK...thanks for the info. Hopefully, we will have time to visit during AIT.
Well duty calls and it looks like I won't be able to asnwer as many questions as I hoped. Thanks to Ninja and Vargas for helping me get squared away and ensuring I had a positive WTC experience earlier this year and I want to wish them good luck in the future. For everyone else, welcome and I hope you have a good experience like I did.
teresa-you will get a full issue here since you did not receive any uniforms when you went to AIT. Did you DX any uniforms while at AIT? PHxDantes-No problem...glad you had a positive experience. spread the knowledge.
I have a question regarding the PT test because I have heard 2 different standards.
I have heard that those that will be going to AIT after WTC only need to score 50 in each event and those going on to their duty assignment have to score 60 or more in each. Then I heard that everyone has to score 60 or more regardless. Which is it?
My goal is to score 75 or more in each event either way but I would still like to know which one it is.
Ninja-I actually did not go to AIT. I came straight into the Guard as a prior service airman. My Readiness NCO told me that I could go to the 15P reclassification course because I was prior service. He did not realize I had to have an Army MOS first. My Air Force AFSC did not transfer over. Anyway.....I still have the uniforms I was issued when I came in to my unit. Not sure if that is the answer you were looking for, but I gave it a shot! Thank you!
Quick question about Boots. Can I purchase my own boots ahead of time and be breaking them in before arriving at WTC and would I be allowed to wear them ? If so does anyone know what brand/name boots are considered acceptable ? Thanks for your help.

I don't know why this keeps getting misunderstood. Going to AIT...50% / Going to your unit...60%
Regardless of what anybody tells you, that is the way it goes here at Fort Sill, OK. Trust me, I work here, I grade your PT test, I ensure you have AIT or UNIT written on your PT card to ensure we know what standard to grade you on. I don't mean to seem irritated but that question has been answered literally over 100 times. Not your fault, Quaymar, but people put out bad info and don't really know the right answer.
