I sent it overnight, no signature required. That's what the guy at the post office told me anyway. That's what confused me in the first place. It doesn't matter now. I just heard back from the ombudsman at the hospital. I looked for a WTC ombudsman but couldn't find one. Did I miss it or is there not one? He said that my husband is now being sent to AIT so the address will change anyway. This only adds to my confusion about the whole process. I thought he had to spend 6 weeks in the WTC course BEFORE going to AIT. Is this not so? He's only been gone for 2 weeks, he should still be in training right?

An Ombudsman is a go-between for wives/families and the active member.

He separated from the Navy in 2007 and has been in the Navy reserve ever since. He works as an Army civilian which is how the commander of they cyber-knight unit got a hold of him and convinced him to come over to the Army reserve. Would that effect how long he would stay at WTC? The recruiter didn't seem to think so.

Well I would say, send me a PM with his name and I could find out for sure. Is he IN processing AT the 95th or is he AT the WTC training. There is a difference. If he is at the 95th I can find out faster.

ninja- He's in training already.

Why doesn't he borrow from another? You know they've all got the same phones, or can buy a cheap charger at the PX.

I need info please, I am prior service AF, joined the NG 3 yrs ago and have been to MOS school. I am MOSQ. Last week 1Sgt told me I would have to go to WTC, talked to the Training officer and he said I wouldn't have to go because I have already been to MOS school, and have been in for 3 yrs. Anyone have any ideas??

numbers,
You are likely caught in the net of WTC requirements that the States NG units have been dropping the ball on. Read the WTC requirements here and if thats you then eventually you will have to go or you will get tossed out this Sept (when the NG does its huge shake out of extra soldiers) or at a minimum you wont get any NCOES schools.

It would be wise to check AR 601-210 for enlistment criteria. NG Soldiers have the same requirements and a few additional policies of their own.

Oldervet is right... You're required to have formal training (WTC) if your PS from another branch. Prior Army if you've been out over 3 years.

It's Department of Army Policy.

Right now the regs say Army and Marine completion of BCT (basic) and out less than 3 years WTC is not required. EVERYONE ELSE is required to attend.

There was a time a few years back where ARNG was stating any prior Army or Marine who completed BCT didnt have to go. Those are the guys who are getting nailed with WTC requirements now. Some have OIF and OEF deployments already and to remain in the army they will have to go to WTC.

Apey- practice your push ups both ways- if you EVEN think about getting into a peeing contest on who is right or wrong when it comes grading time...well you figure it out.

Ninja, thanks for the input, I appreciate it. I'm pretty stoked, took a PT test over the weekend and passed. Had to do 17 to pass and did 19, I try to shoot for higher numbers, but at least I can see where I'm at, it especially helped having a Sgt grade me. Thanks again! I appreciate your time.

Oldervet,
Thanks for taking the time to post the regulations. I had looked them up before I posted, however, I wanted feedback. I think I was stressing way too much over small stuff. I knew you had to go to a 90 degree angle, but then hearing you had to "break the plane", I was hoping I was reading it right. Thanks again for your time. I just want to make sure I'm preparing for WTC to the fullest.

Just loooking for a difinitive answer on something:

I leave for WTC in early August, then Infantry AIT thereafter at Fort Benning.

I know you can take your cell phone, but what about laptop computers?

I know there won't be much time in WTC for it, but what about AIT?

I looked at their website, and I didn't see anything prohibiting them, but thought I would ask if somebody has already BTDT.

laptops are allowed. How much you get to use them depends on your Cadre.

My husband is at reception now waiting for Class 516 which is supposed to graduate July 8th or 9th. I read on here that they have 48 hours to ship them out, but he was told at reception today that he could be there another 10 days after graduation for 'out processing'. Which is it?

He is Reserve going back to his unit, not AIT.

We need to know now, because his family was supposed to come down to visit for a week for 4th of July. Then he got to FT. Sill only to find out he wouldn't even graduate till July 8th or 9th. So now his parents need to change their requests for time off work and the sooner we know, the better. Plus he has a regular job to get back to.

His Recruiter and MEPS were of no help in telling him anything. They couldn't tell him when his class started, what class he would be in, or anything. They told him it would be 26 days from beginning to end. WE found out ourselves about the time at reception. So he scheduled for time off from work for 10 days at reception, and 26 days after that. 36 days. They shipped him out on the 18th so now it's looking like it will be close to 60 days total?

Anyway, sorry for the rant, MEPS should know better. And the guys in his class are all speculating on things. I told him the info I'm giving him is straight from the horse's mouth (you guys) and thank you so much for being here to answer questions! I'm so glad I found this site. So far, everything he's been told has been untrue and the info I've given him from here has been dead on.

He's the E-4 with a full sleeve tribal tattoo. Funny guy. You'll like him. He pulls his own weight and some of others. Last name is Potter.
