I went through the WTC course back in Apr. I had the pleasure to meet Ninja Drill...well he addressed a group of us one day when spirits seemed to be low. I didn't get to met Vargas, as I went to White Sands. But I was the first class to go through Stallion Range at the White Sands portion of WTC. I will try to answer as many questions as I can. To help out. Or if you don't want to ask out load, send me a private message.

I had a very positive WTC experience, there is a lot of good training I still fall back on.

EDIT: I just saw the post by Ninja Drill about WTC being moved. So now my experience is just general experiences since I have switched over

Two questions. Are OTC Sinus Med allowed? Either Brought with you or bought while you are there.
Also, for us Smokers (or trying to become non-smokers). Is gum chewing allowed during on duty times?

ADSW? I predict that they would have a "reporting time & date". Is there an end date on the orders? How is this handled. Curious as to my civilian employer's reaction if I submit open ended request for leave of absence. Anyone go through similar experience?

Also second small question: Does the USAR have something called HYT (high year tenure). That means if you are a E-5 for example, if you don't make E-6 within 15 years you are kicked out.

you can go 20 years as a E5(p) from what I can tell.

your job is protected under the soldiers and sailors relief act (it was renamed to something) if you get fired for military duty, in theory the federal government can come shut them down.

I just went through the process to go from USNR to Active Army, had to do the whole MEPS thing with physical, etc, got my E5 waiver and TDQ waiver (eyesight consult) and chose 25q (not that I had alot of options as prior/current service E5) and they ignored my 368 and have me scheduled to leave on Jan 21 even though the Navy does not release me until Feb 1, so that date will have to change.

good luck man

Does anyone know if we can bring full size items such as shampoo, soap, etc. as long as we check our bags instead of carry it on?...Also, any other ladies shipping on Dec. 31st as well?

Not sure about Ft Sill, but we were allowed to bring some OTC cold/allergy meds with us to WTC NM. Nothing with alcohol in it of course. Our little shoppette sold it as well. Maybe Vargas or Ninja has a better answer than me on that one.

As for gum, well, you shouldn't be chewing in formation, we where give one hours of soldiers time a day that we could smoke during, and you are quite busy all day. I'm a smoker and was so busy with other stuff I just forgot about smoking until my soldier's time, if you can hold out all day without smoking, what's another hour?

I brought full sized shampoo and soap, don't really reamber that being much of an issue

OTC meds are ok. If you have prescriptions, ensure they have YOUR name on them and that they are not expired. We will take them if not. Supplements are not!!!!! No chewing gum allowed.....EVER while at WTC. No time/place to chomp on it here!!! One-a-day vitamins are fine. Please don't bring protein powder, whey, rip-fuel, hydroxycut, or anything of that nature for it will be confiscated until graduation.

BTW, if your are not in shape physicaly and mentally, ask your recruiter for an extension in order to get ready because this course will be hard for you and you might get injured. The course is pretty physical and if your body/mind isn't ready, YOU WILL NOT MAKE IT!!!!

My husband is doing the Blue to Green program. MEPS has him scheduled to leave to WTC at Ft. Sill on 12/15. Looking at prior posts everyone else has a ship date of 12/30 or later for the 1/9 class. I know the ARMY has a holiday exodus?? What is he going to be doing until everyone else gets there?? How is he going to in-process as when I was in we had to wait for the rest of the class to get there correct?? Is this incorrect?? Is he going to have somewhere to stay?? Is there going to be transportation from the airport?? Please someone let me know?? Is there going to be a pay lapse due to this??? No one seems to have an answer. Thanks!!

LoniDiane,
I went blue to green in Apr. So if you husband has any specific questions about the differences, have him get in contact with me. When he gets to the Airport, there is a shuttle that transport people to post to the place he needs to be at. He will do some intial processing right then, then be seperated from the IET (Initial Entry Training) soldiers. Yes, he will have a place to stay, regardless of when he gets there. You don't have to wait for a class to start in processing. He will only have to wait for a class to start WTC if anything. If for some reason he has to wait, there will be stuff to do during the day...i.g. details and what not. I'm not sure, however, if WTC soldiers in process on the 95th side with the change coming to the WTC location.

He should start getting paid the day he leaves MEPS and needs to watch you both finances very carefully. If for some reason he does have a pay problem, he needs to notify his DS ASAP. The DSs were very respectful, as long as we respected them and very helpful in resolving issues. The sooner they are informed of any issue, the sooner they can help to resolve them. I did not complete WTC at Ft Sill, but know several who have and I have heard that the DSs there are awesome.

I've read so much on here to try and get a grip on things, but yet still confused! Go figure, I'm a woman!

I have been in the ARNG for 2 years. Just finished a reclass course for 15P. However, since I am prior service AF (18 years ago) and my job did not transfer over into the Army (Security Police does NOT equal Military Police), I was not able to be awarded my MOS when i 'graduated' 15P school. The only way that can happen is if I attend WTC.

So.... here I am, about to dive into something I'm worried about not being able to handle. I am sure I can handle ever aspect of the course, except for the ever-fearing PT test! I am fearful and quite frankly suck at sit ups! How do women suck at sit ups? Anyway, of course I'm doing what I can to prepare, and pray I don't get 'broken' while there, but I do ship for the January 9 class.

After all of that babbling, I guess I'm really wondering, since I've been in the Guard for a while, am I getting uniforms, a new ID, all that too?? I'm confused about how all of this is taking place, and to be honest, no one seems to know at my unit.

Sorry, again, to ramble on! I just don't want to go in any blinder than I think I am!

Questions pouring in and hard to keep track of. Here goes. Lonidiane, I know you know the answers to most of those questions. Is he gonna have a place to stay? You know better than that!!!! Sure he will. Pay will not lapse. Winter block leave should be granted to him. A bus will get him from the airport and take him to Sill. He will stay busy until it is time for his class to start. They will inprocess when they get enough. Not just onesies and twosies.

Teresa, you will get everything you need when you inprocess. ID, uniforms, etc. We will give you plenty of stuff!

Hope most of your questions are answered. If there are more, feel free to ask.

Loni- As for inprocessing, unless he arrives on a week end he will start his inprocessing the NEXT day. He will be given a Roster number and a Line number. That is how the 95th will track him.
