Has anybody out there had there waiver kicked up from the state board level to the Federal level?I'm going down to the Meps center to retest on the ASVAB and take the physical. Is this good news or bad? I had a general under honorable discharge 23yrs ago.It was a misconduct charge I've gotten several letters, character references plus a letter of my own as to why I want to join.Sent them to the board. I have changed completely around in this time never been in trouble since. Sorry to get carried away just want to know of any simular experiences and results. Ty

If it comes up on the REDD report, it can be used....years are not necessarily a factor, but they did change the ASVAB back in the early 90's.

My ASVAB dates back to 1986 and the AD recruiter didn't seem to have any trouble handling it when he got it off the REDDs. It has yet to be put to the test in MEPS, but I'm planning to have studied enough by then to be able to take if if required.

I won't even meet the TXANG recruiter until October, but if the other guy can pull it up on REDDS, and if I have a certified copy in my hand, it shouldn't be a problem.

My advice to anyone who isn't sure if the old one will be accepted: Just take a little time to study and get your mind wrapped around the type of questions you might be asked if you had to take it over.

I took my ASVAB Test in 1983 and have been told its fine especially with my Florida State Correction and Police Academes Scores they are pushing hard for the MP Field. Thinking real hard about going MP. As a Police Academe Certified Instructor may end up at one point teaching in the MP Field. That wouldn’t be too bad have heard a lot of bad things about MP’s from all services including my own bad experience with a young MP in the Marine Corps. Which is the whole reason I was thinking of not being a MP.

But my MP Recruiter is right about one thing as a trainer someday and with my experience I could change or effect the way some young MP deals with a service member on a Post in a Law Enforcement type duty. I still remember that bad example of an MP when I train new Police Officers because some Police Officers act the same way “Sadly” but not in my Department.

Well that’s off the subject but the Army dose appear to accept the original AVABS in connection with current education and experience. And yes study I have been doing just that and the MATH sucks but it always did for me that’s why I don’t do Accident reconstruction. Would hate to be called up to the board in Court to show the formula used in the investigation can never remember them. The rest of the test is nothing looks like its gotten easier.

Take all three ASVABS used at military.com and study them you could actually ace the darn thing. My wife was surprised I knew the Speed of Light question off the top of my head because its used in Police Radar Training or any Radar Training for that matter. Good luck STUDY, STUDY and STUDY more just in case. I just read a few pages in the MATH and SCIENCE Section was surprised I had forgotten so much in Science but don’t use you loose it.

One last thing my Recruiter was able to pull up my scores on his computer so no problems!

Wll what do you know. thanks for all the post I took the ASVAB Tues. And the studying did pay off I scored a 90. I about fell out. Now if my blood work and all come back from the physical at meps in good order hopefully the last waiver from the NG board will be aproved. Again TY for your advice and good luck to all of you. By the way I started takingthe test on line 2 weeks before my test date then went over all the missed answers up to then. Try it that way if you like it worked well for me. Last asvab I tookwas 1977. LOL Good luck!

I took my ASVAB in 1983 and had to re-take it for the Army Reserve because they couldn't locate my scores. Since I raised my GT by about 17 points for a couple of hours of work, I'm not complaining.

I took my ASVAB in 1986.

Took the Recruiter a few hours to get the scores, but he said they were fine.

I got a 59 the first time at the ripe old age of 16. Would have taken it again just to see how much smarter (or dumber) I've gotten in the last 20 years.

Katana is right. Do some practice tests, study and do it again. You'll do fine.

I had to re-take as well. My original 1981 was no good, I retook in 2000 but no jobs near my location, Had to re-take becasue the test was given at the MEPS. Now I talked to a reserve recruiter prior to the NG and he pulled it up on the computer and said it would be fine.

I just re-took it and scored higher anyway, so it can't hurt. You want to think you get smarter with age!

Yeah, SFC, age is a good thing. I am like cheese. As I get older I may smell worse, but I am getting better. I guess wine and brandy would get better with age too, but they dont stink.
