Hey guys-I am a prior Army active enlisted going into Security Forces at Stewart AFB in Air Guard. Wanted to know what you guys think of the deployment frequency-will I go overseas to the Stan or Iraq? I am looking for a deployment badly. Also-has anyone ever heard of prior Army infantry being waived from the SF tech school?
I'm a TSGT in the 105th and a prior active duty Army MP. The deployments will be nearly 24/7 as we have been commissioned as the largest National Guard Security Forces Squadron in the country. We are now attached to the 820th SFS from Moody AFB. YOU WILL GO TO BOTH IRAQ AND AFGHANISTAN if you are in this unit for the standard 6 year contract. They will not waive SF tech school for infantry. You need to learn Law Enforcement and UCMJ even though SF is quickly turning into a glorified infantry similar to the Army MP's.
Hey nrvous1 I have actually been looking into joining the security forces squadron at Stewart.I do have a few questions if you dont mind me asking. How long are the deployments usually for? How many times have you been deployed since you have been there? What types of things do you do while you are not deployed? I'm just trying to get a feel for the field you are already in and stationed at the base I live relatively close to.
