First, my brother is serving in the Army, 82nd airborne, and gets out this July. He wants to get into the ANG as a pararescue, what is the MOS like and how hard is the training?
Second I am prior service Marine, enlisted E-4, I have since received my bachelors degree. the recruiter told my brother that I could go in without having to go thru OCS and could report straight to a reserve unit after being accepted, is this true?

Para-rescue is about as tough as it gets. If he meets the entry requirements and can pass a PAST test, then go for it. The training is long and hard. You have to be highly motivated and committed!
As far as for you; yes, you would go to an Officer school if selected. The easiest path is to come on board as enlisted then apply for a officer position as they come available.

The recruiter left out the part about how few officer positions become available. Closed-door considerations are given to already commissioned officers who have had their officer training school (6 weeks) and tech school already paid for by their last unit.

I don't believe i left anything out on this. It may have not been everything but it is not as you state.
Depending on some units it may be difficult to find a position. This is true. Do units make closed door considerations; yes. The units i deal with usually make every effort to promote from within for there junior officer positions. Meaning on board enlisted members. I can't say i have seen them promote just to save the money for officer school. They have to live with the person that they put into these positions.
We as recruiters always welcome officers from other units applying for positions; but, there are a lot that are turned away.

If you want to be an officer you have to put forth the effort! Just because a person gets a 4 year degree doesn't mean they deserve it. Just like anywhere else. If you want it bad enough you can make it happen.
