Hello, I am a prior Army medic who recently enlisted into the Air Guard. I earned the CMB in Iraq and will be filling a 4N0 position in the Guard. I have read the regulation but am unclear and have recieved yes and no from unit reps. Does anyone here have specific guidance on if I can wear the CMB on the ABU's?

According to 36-2903 "only while permanently assigned to and performing duties with other services." If you are not assigned to an Army unit then it can not be worn.

The USAF is stupid that way...I say if you earned it, you should be able to wear it.

Get used to the Air Force ***** envy. I could never understand why the badges that kids are given for finishing tech school are looked at higher than badges that are awarded for going 'above and beyond'.
I think that the Air Force badges are a joke, and I will never wear them.

There has to be more to it than because folks are envious or whatever. But it does make since for instance if I was an actual prior Army Ranger/Combat Medic whathave ya and had a tab/badge and came into the Air Force as a generator mechanic what would be the point to keep wearing a Ranger/Medic tab/badge on my uniform other than to be like "hey you, look at this, touch it if you want, feel the power" when there isnt any opportunity for anyone in that AFSC to even attempt to earn that badge except through switching services. Now if I'm in say Security Forces and being a prior Army Ranger or an Air Force SF mbr that just went to Ranger School it would make more sense to authorize wear due to the nature of the careerfield and as a motivator for younger guys who strive to earn such quals. Same is to be said of the Combat Medic badge

Caninedale thanks for the regulation reference. Same one I read and for some reason it didn't click until I read your post. Go figure! Thanks to everyone else for the replies. No big issue about wearing or not wearing but am proud of accomplishments none the less. I am going to be pursuing a OSI position regardless so maybe it won't matter in the near, intermediate future. Best regards to everyone and stay safe out there.
