Hello, I'm in Active Duty Air Force, I just reenlisted for 4 more years. My first career field was information management and I just recently retrained into Finance. My husband is in the process of joining the Air Force Reserves because he didn't make the age cut off for active duty. His reserve unit will be at Robins Air Force Base. I was wondering how I can transfer to Active Guard Reserve and get a position at Robins. I'm stationed at Moody because of my NCORP retraining (forced). I own a house at Robins and my husbands family is from Perry, GA and his two sons live there. I know that I wouldn't probably beable to switch over now because I just reenlisted and retrained but I'm looking to go back to Robins in an AGR slot in about 3 years. I just don't know where to start and if I would be guareenteed to get an AGR slot. If I change to AGR, I heard you get all the same benifits and pay as active duty, how true is that? Also, would I beable to retire with my 50% after 20 years of both services combined?
i am currently enlisted in active airforce. i have been since november of 2009 and it is currently march of 2010. i have interest in switching over to the reserves and i would like to find more information on the transfer. i havent been matched with a job yet therefore i have not been to basic or tech school. What would this transfer require? i am 17 and my parents have already signed for me. with my current situation i have to travel round trip to lafayette for meetings twice a month and i live in lake charles making it difficult to pay for gas. i no longer live with my family and i am engaged to someone who is in the national guard and is deploying as we speak. I feel now that reserves would be my best option and i would like your input
I am currently drilling as a Navy Seabee. When I get back from deployment, I am considering transferring to the AF Reserve SF, if possible. Just wondering how difficult it would be to change, how long SF A-school is, and if I would maintain my rank. When I get back, I might be an E6. I know the A-school is at Lackland and is only about 2hrs away
I am enlisting in the USAFR (well trying) and I was told seeing that my HS Diploma is from the caribbean I would need to get them translated. I have been looking into this and even contacted my college in Alabama to see if they knew anything about it and they were at a loss as well.
Could anyone give me some insight about this and how to go about doing it? I have never heard of it before and 5 years ago when I was looking at joining it was never mentioned either.
This is a question for a recruiter. I dont know how to react to this but its very disappointing to say the least.
I contacted my recruiter today to ask a question. It was a pretty upfront one reguarding some info she asked me to acquire to assist in my processing. The company wanted to know what it was she wanted. Bascially it was either "Yes, I want each document" or "no just a general overview" and I could have called em back and relayed the info. Instead this is what I got;
She listened to me for the min it took to explain what the company asked me to clarify. Instead of giving me one of the answers above I got "I am on appointment only so I will have to call you back."
Now let me know if I am wrong but I left messages before and no call back. I left one yesterday still no call back. And I mean weeks. Should I wait for a call back or should I find another recruiter. I figure I am the one pursuing the USAFR so why not move on. Any feedback? I dont wanna be over reacting cause I know I aint the only one in the world this recruiter is working with. The many calls and no responses however is whats getting me. I called a total of 3 times and left messages. Only three times because i dont want to seem pushy and also I am sure she is getting hundreds of messages a day.

I Palace Chased into the Reserve a while back. Quite frankly, I hate it. I have constant problems with pay, duty, and just about everything. I think a majority of the problems stem from me being an IMA and having to work in an Active Duty unit. Active Duty is just such a different mind set all together and some times they just don't get the fact that the Reserve is supposed to be PART TIME.
Any way, I need to find out how to get out of this Palace Chase commitment. It is literally driving me crazy. I haven't been paid in three months! What do I do? Do I have to go so low as to fail PT tests to get discharged? Will they throw me back on Active Duty if that's what I do? Please help. This is horrible.
my daughter dates a airforce reserve man and he takes her money to gamble it and threatens her with her life as well as slaps her around. She will not press charges, is there anything i can do to notify the airforce of his actions, he should be a representation of our men in uniform and he is disgracing the airforce

There are some great questions here, but no answers for more than a year. If you have question about the reserves or national guard, please start a new thread in this forum.
