I am in the process of enlisting in the Reserves after a 10 year break in service. I was a 2W051 when I left active duty and my recruiter said he's not sure what skill level I will go back in as or if I will have to go back to tech school. Anybody have any info about this?

Most likely will not go back to tech school but will be given task evals on things before you are cleared to go. This is how our unit does it at least, as is saves training money. We had a guy with an 8 year break and he came in without tech school.

If you are going back into your prevous AFSC you *shouldn't* have to re-do tech school.

I kind of wished I could have redone tech school...I could probably have taught the instructors...heh.

I had an 11 year break in service and was a 2A373 when I got out in '94. Coming back in in '05 I was dropped to a 3 level, waived through to 5 level with core tasks evals, and had to do my 7 level CDCs again. Got that done last fall, so went from a 3 level to a 7 level in 2 years. Smile

Now if I could just get TSgt! Wink
