would a 6 yr old dwi keep me from making sf res? thinking about moving from navy res to air force res.

One of the reserve recruiters on this forum would be the best ones to answer that. My usual response is just to give it a shot ... contact a reserve recruiter, let them know upfront about the DWI charge and all the details. They will decide pretty quickly whether it is worth trying to pursue a waiver (if thats necessary). The fact that you are prior service may work for you.

Definitely go talk to a recruiter no matter what anyone may say on a message board. The worst that could happen is that you are told "no" but if you never try you will never know for sure.

Unfortunately, the DWI would make you ineligible for the security forces career field.
