Greetings,
I am an IMA interested in SOS by correspondence. I would like to take this course during my annual month-long tour (AT + IDT) in June 2008. Would this time frame be sufficient to complete the course?

Also, in the past I have tried to cram as much activity into my month-long duty period as possible so as to generate a decent OPR. If I were to instead use this time to take the SOS course, I imagine my OPR would suffer immensely since I wouldn't have any duty-specific bullets to list. Any one out there have any experience with this type of situation.

I am currently a medical student in my civilian life, so taking extra time out of the year is impossible without significantly hindering my chances of graduation. Thanks in advance.

I really doubt that you can do SOS in a month unless that is all you were doing and you are prior active duty. You should at least get a good chunk of it done. It really depends on how well you can retain the information. Since you are a med student I assume that you are very good at retaining information.

I completed SOS by correspondence in 56 days, but that was studying every waking minute that I was not working. Good luck if you try it in 30 days!

Well, you can always enroll, get your materials way before your tour begins and then take all of your test while on your AD tour. Just keep in mind that you have 18 months to finish SOS.

Good luck!

That's too ambitious of a goal.

It's not just on your schedule. You have to get with you education/training office to schedule a test date for each of the 5 sections. You cannot test for the next section, until you pass the previous.
