I was curious as to how long the required period of waiting time was between E3 to E4? I enlisted 15 July 2010 as an E3 and just finished my Tech School on 17 November 2011. It was a pretty long one. People in my shop told me it takes a little while, but somebody whom I went to Tech School with and enlisted with around the same amount of time, already put on his SrA. Anybody have a straight-forward answer as to what the minimum time is? I have the awards and the top grads and distinguished grads to back me up along with some extensive volunteer hours. Anybody know? Thank you! =)

Keep checking with your supervisor. Ask around the shop and talked to other SrA or Airmen that have been around for a while. Most will help you out. I thought that you had to have 36 months time in service to make it to E4? You can check with your supervisor on that one too. The number one proponent of your career is....well you. Keep asking till you get an answer. Good luck.

The minimum amount of time to go E4 is eighteen months after graduation from tech school. HOWEVER, one needs to complete certain trainings related to his/her job - perhaps necessitating obtaining five-skill status. Check with your supervisor and unit training manager - they should know what you need to do to be eligible for promotion.
