Does the Air Force Reserves offer Signing bonuses, and for which careers. I'm none prior service, looking at either guard or AF Reserve. Most likely Security Forces etc, want to become a police officer.

Thanks.

Yes they do but only a recruiter is going to be able to tell you the current bonus amounts and for what AFSC's.

Security Forces (3P0X1), Air Guard, NPS, $20k + GI Kicker ($350 a mo.) or Student Loan Repayment Program
Good till 30 Sep 08, depends on unit manning.
Should be good to go.(Most units are looking for 3P0's)

But the recruiter left out the part about those who have 16 or more total years of service (drilling and IRR time included) who are ineligible for bonuses.

Andrewsdad - - This individual is Non-prior service. But yes you are correct to a certain degree. There's a lot more to it than what's printed.
I just put out the basics. It's the recruiter in me.

STT757 - - I sent you a message. Yes; i'll hook you up.

Yes, 3C0 is on the list till 30 sept.
Yes, You can get a bonus if you cross-train.
There are a lot of variables with bonuses! It is up to each unit to make determination as of availability and whether you qualify for it.
Each wing also has some (5 or more) jobs that are not on the national list.
Be forewarned; the national list for the Air Guard may change dramatically after 1 Oct due to the fact that they just hit there manning level for the first time in 3 years. 1 Jan 08 it went from 79 AFSC's to 29, revamped in spring 08 to present.
It may behoove you to jump now if you want any money!

If your DOS is 29 sep that is totally different!
You are not PS you are a affliation. I wouldn't take a break in service if i were you!
If you are a 3C0 nows the time to talk to a In-service recruiter! Call your Air Guard ISR right now.

Good luck and have fun

The time off is to evaluate all my options.
I understand I would not be considered PS if I were to transition to guard/reserve before my DOS.

But at this time I really have to consider everything and I dont think i can make a 4-6 year commitment be it guard or reserves at this time.

All info is welcomed though.

Would it be harder to join after I get out and am considers PS?
Would I get more of a bonus if i went guard/reserve before my DOS? As opposed to getting out for a few months?

It's hard to say given the variables and i don't know much about you.
Palace Front - 6 years 20K
PS 15K

Now; if you get out and you elect to come back in before the 6 month mark you don't have to go to MEPS again. Keep in mind that ALL of your medical records must be in order to do this.
Most people i send back to MEPS. It's easier.
Do you have copies of all your medical and dental records? Have you had a physical or PHA within the last month? If not do so. It will help. If you do not have copies of your medical and dental records you'd better get them. They will disappear into never, never land after you separate.
It really makes no difference if you separate and join 4 months down the road except the bonus money. (There are other factors)
The best thing you can do is get a hold of the local recruiter and line everything up before you exit. This way if you want to join down the road you can just stop in and get it done. I do it all the time.
I sent you a message. Are you coming back to NY?

My HOR will be Tampa FL.

I'm getting copies of my records within the next 2-3 weeks. Finishing up all the little things along the way.

Ok i think I will have a much better idea of what i want to do within 6 months after getting out.
I will have to remember the MEPS thing.

If the bonus money is the only thing that changes really then I think im better off waiting instead of possibly rushing into another commitment.

I contacted my local recruiter on base
And was told the only 3c0x1 bonuses are for 3 bases only.

So it looks like Im SOL right now to get a bonus for 3c0x1 at Macdill.
