They are accepting PS right now. They had about 100 slots from December so I'm not sure what point they are at now. You have to be qualified in a specifice AFSC though. Cross training was authoriaed for AFSC's like EOD, PJ/CCT, SERE... Not sure if they loaded those limited slots though. Call you local AF recruiter ASAP to find out. You will need to get a conditional release from the reserves I believe. At least that's what I had to do in the ANG so far. Good luck!!

Good luck buddy! Unless your special ops or in high demand it will be tough for a while. Slots are extremely limited. You need to be best friends with a AF Recruiter to pull this off.
You can always wait till the economy takes off again. That's when the next big door will open. If you are trying to do it make sure all your ducks are lined up. |

Recruiter, do you know if 1N0 is critical enough for one to go from Guard to AD?

I don't recall seeing it on the AD AF's last PGM. It very well could be though. It's a job in high demand to a certain degree. The only issue with Intel is; that it is a easy to fill job ussually.
That being said, i would think that the AF doesn't have a hard time filling the positions they need. Daisy are you looking for "full time" or AD AF. You may see around the nation openings for AGR positions starting this winter. Keep your eyes open. If you are AGR it will help buy you time until a window opens for AD AF. |

There are still quite a few jobs left on the list. Everything from Intel to some medical jobs.
Get with a recruiter about your AFSC, your time in service and your RE Code. If you don't have a 214 with an RE Code, then you will just need a release from the Guard/reserve. Its not difficult nor do you have to be best friends with a recruiter. The waiver isn't hard, it just takes a while to work the chain. I've done two this year, one got denied. It made its way to Air Staff, got approved, by the Career field Manager denied it. Good Luck |

USAFanne, I have to give you a lot of credit. Out of all the AF recruiters i know i can only think of maybe two people that have made it this year.(SF's)
Daisy should get with you! You must be good! |

Greetings! I'm new to the boards.
I'm prior-service active duty Air Force SSgt, with an AFSC of 2W171 (F-16 weapons/armament). I got out of active duty in Feb 2008 and went into the Reserve in said AFSC. Thing is, I want to go into Active Duty once again, but only as a 3P0 (Security Forces). I originally enlisted for SF, but couldn't get the clearance back then. I currently have a Secret good til 2014. After doing my time on the flightline, I'm now ready to move into Security Forces. My chosen career path since my early years has been law enforcement, so I'm sure about that decision. I called a recruiter today who said that it wasn't available for prior-service as of today's date. My questions are: EXACTLY what date does this list come out? What are the odds of Security Forces being on it? How can I access this list? My civilian job just isn't paying the bills and since I'm a 7-level in a very technical AFSC, it should be easy for me to excel in the other (not to mention the vast opportunities after retirement). How hard and time-consuming is the Reserve-to-AD process? My commander is a typically understanding person when it comes to helping his subordinates achieving their goals. Law enforcement being my ultimate goal, I'm sure he'll be happy to sign off on any paperwork needed. Does anyone know if any of my CCAF credits could be transfered from aircraft armament degree to criminal justice? As I am right now, I would have to finish my CCAF in armament and use GI Bill/TA to get my bachelor in Criminal Justice. Transfering would be much easier. Lastly, how hard would it be to change my SJC (security job code) to F? I don't know if its my real one or not...I do know that I am PRP-PERM DISQUAL because I told my interviewer that I would refuse to load a nuclear weapon. That's not the case now...I was young and stupid and didn't understand the need for nukes--was on my political high horse at the time. If it's impossible: think Army would take me? Thanks for taking the time to read it: I have a TON of questions, and hopefully I can have some of them answered here. This message has been edited. Last edited by: 14962777, |
