Good Day,

After asking for a honorable discharge from the Air National Guard after 16 years of service to our country, this year with my heart swelled with pride for our Armed Forces, I decided to enlist again with the military through the AFRES. As a prior military SSgt of 44 years of age, this was not an easy process but after listening to SSgt Barry Sadler's, Ballad of the Green Beret (www.youtube.com/watch?v=LH4-tOqLH94), I pressed on and finally passed my initial physical, qualification standards and lost nearly 20 pounds and reducing my BMI from 27 to just 21.
Today, as a proud Reservist of the AFRES, I volunteered for temporary Active Duty status. So I had to immediately accomplish my PT to authorize orders. I haven't had a PT examination since 2004 and scored just shy of passing the minimal score of 72.55, primarily because I did not do my sit-ups at the right repetition rate but finished my 1.5 mile run in 13.39 minutes. I was curious if my low score will keep me from completing my CMAS paperwork to complete my orders and assignment? Interestingly, the attendant measured my height at 67" instead of 68", my actual height. I was also curious that under the new USAF standard where the aerobic portion is worth 60% of my total score and if I have an new height check for my correct height, would that bring my PT score closer to the magical 75?

Best Regards,
SSgt Woodard
