I already understand that my odds of getting my first choice branch are based largely on what amounts to my class rank through the first 6 weeks of OCS, but I was wondering if anyone knows anything about slot allocation. Basically, about how many slots are usually made available to OCS graduates for intel, counter-intel, criminal investigations, and humint?

It all depends on your scores in the class...
i.e PT, Tests, Leadership...you get points for each of these, and whoever gets the most gets to choose first...so your best bet is to score high, then you choose first... Also the needs of the Army make up that list... |

I hate to send anyone somewhere else for answers but you might have better luck getting this answered at armyocs.com. You've got more people on there that have been through the process.

I "live" over there too. The answer to this question is: Each class will get different amounts of certain branches. It will change with each class. There is no set amount of slots for any given branch. Some branches may not even be represented/available. As has been said, rock the initial APFT and stay on top of your studies. That will allow you to be at the top of the OML and pick early on in the branching at the end of Week 6. Matt SPC, AV US Army OCS Selectee Class 303-10 |

Mad_Matt is right on the money. You must understand the pecking order in receiving your Army commission. West Point and ROTC graduates have always received first priority over branch selection. OCS is the final square filler. It may not be fair, but it is what it is. There's always a question of aviation slots in OCS. The reason there is practically none is because the 250-350 slots are filled by WP and ROTC graduates. Do your best in academics, PT and leadership and hope for the best. Army Strong. |

Not only are branch slots different from class to class, they can actually change at any moment. My class just finished and a large portion of our class was re-branched at the last minute because of the "needs of the Army".
