I am heavily considering joining the Army. I went pretty far in joining the Navy as in I went through MEPS passed physical, took ASVAB and got 80. QNJ. I asked my recruiter the wait would be and said month or two I call him every week, nothing. Been 6 months. I am tired of waiting and I have always had a passion for the army and serving our country. Is the army turning down people?

What's a job I can do utilizing my asvab? What's the process of me switching? Thank you.

On the first question, yes you can switch you haven't signed a contract. Just go talk to an Army recruiter.
On the second question, google. |

Is the score of 80 your AFQT?
Jobs depend on the scores of the line test. GT (general technical) score is the most important score. You will have to actually sit down and talk to an Army Recruiter to know what is available. There is a time limit on how long your MEPPS tests are good for. |

It's pretty long. I got into the USNR the first time on my original ASVAB scores. That's five or six years after I took it my junior year of high school. Then I got completely out and went back in a few years later. The second time I had to retake the ASVAB. |

ASVAB scores are good for 2 years if you do NOT enlist before the 2 years. Once you enlist, ASVAB scores are good indefinitely unless you re-take it while in service. Matt SPC, AV US Army OCS Selectee Class 303-10 |

I really wasn't refering to the ASVAB, but the medical part.
In my day, ASVABs were given in high school lunch rooms or study halls. If you missed it there, a local Army Reserve Center usually gave the test on certian days. That is where I had to take people without them when I did hometown recruiter in 74. There were no MEPPS then. It was AFEES- Armed Forces Entrance Examination Station. The one at Ft. Jackson required Army enlistees to stay in the AFEES barracks the night before the medical. Draftees that had ran before were brought in in cuffs. |
