My story:
Ex Division I athlete. 100+ College Credits. Scored 55 (AFQT) @ recruiting office. Receiving several different answers to the question, "can I join?" The situation: I had 1 year of hell (legally), in my entire life. My charges are all misdemeanor in nature and listed below: Probation Violation (4), Arrested for DUI, reduced to "Wreckless Driving", and 1 plead guilty to DUI. I was told that the Army looks at arrests, rather than outcome. It has been 5 years from the first DUI arrest, and 4 years since the second. I have not been in trouble with the law since. I have been receiving several different answers to "can i join?" I've been open and honest with my charges. Several recruiters have told me that because of this army ruling, I can join: "Driving while intoxicated (DWI), driving under the influence (DUI), or driving while impaired because of substance abuse, alcohol, drugs, or any other condition that impaired judgment or driving ability. Waiver approval authority is the recruiting battalion commander, acting commander, or executive officer. If the applicant has two DWIs/DUIs and one of them is longer than five years from date of enlistment, a waiver may be approved by the Commanding General of the Army Recruiting Command." However, others have said that I'm automatically DQ'd. I need answers as soon as possible. I understand that it would take a herculean effort to get me in by a recruiter, but I am not that person anymore, and desperately want to serve my country. Please, recruiters or ex-recruiters respond. Thank you! |

Trust Me, I used to be a Recruiter |
The recruiters are the ones with the answers and they told you already you could join. So why are you wasting time asking a bunch of barracks lawyers? |
