When reclassing 11B, will I go through with other permanent party soldiers who are reclassing? Also, does training pick up where it left off at BCT, and resume just like I had originally gone through OSUT, or will there be sort of a "refresher of BCT". If anyone has any info on how it works, I'd really appreciate it. -SGT Hudson
When I went through, there were three Soldiers reclassing. Basically, they walked onto the training cycle during the ninth week when we began what would be AIT in another MOS. One was an E-5(P) MP, and the other two were E-4s (one 13F and one 19D). The only way I remember this is that the 13F was cool, the 19D was a jackass and the MP was promoted to Staff Sergeant during training and heading straight to Ranger School en route to 75th.
All were given special privileges just like they were in any other school, being able to leave at night and on weekends and being exempt from most of the details. This probably depends on the DS', but you can expect to be treated like a Soldier and not an IET student.
I just graduated OSUT from Benning 15 August and fm2176 hit it on the head. During week 8 or 9 we got our reclass e4s and e5s. They were pretty much exempt from anything they didnt feel like doing. At night they were free to do as they please. They got to keep cell phones, laptops and were able to smoke/chew. Every weekend they had an off post pass. However they made the reclass sgts control the company from getting out of line. They acted as extra eyes for the drill sgts everywhere we went. Our plt had a sgt reclass that was a tanker and they made him our PG. For obvious reasons he hated it because he didnt want to babysit privates.
