thats all the bad stuff..heh
does this automatically bar me from a secret security clearance? my recruiter says I should have no problem, I'm a little worried.
If the Army could catch anyone stealing in garrison most of us in this Forum would be charged with petty theft.....so I would be surprised if that was a problem.
As for the Credit Card Debt, Army's call on that. $300 to $3000 is not a lot of money. So, IMO listen to your Recruiter on this. If you need to validate what a Recruiter says we have a Recruiting Questions forum (link is above). You can also go to www.goarmy.com and ask the question there.....Good Luck.

Not all jobs require a security clearance. If your in a duty position that requires it, ie, nukes, classified documents handling, mail clerk, etc. Then you will have a clearance of some type. I was in a job where I had a Secret clearance, once I pcs'd it was downgraded to Classified.

My mistake, it is duty position based not MOS. I forgot I needed a Confidential clearence back in the day to be a Armorer.
So even Infantry needs them sometimes in specific duty positions. They usually wait though until just before you get assigned that duty position.
I think EOD needs a high security clearance (TS or Secret?) for their initial entry training since they are learning intricate details of how current bombs and mines work.
