I am trying to get things squared away and have all the information i need before signing. one questions i cant seem to find on my own is how long before active duty family members get benefits. i ask because right now my family is on medicaid and too much income we lose it and my wife has a few medical issues.
thank you for taking the time to read this and help out in any way. and i am sorry if this has been asked already and i just did not see it. |

When you ship to BCT, when you get to Reception, you will enroll your dependents in DEERS. Once enrolled, your dependents can go to a military post to get an ID and then will be able to use the military medical system.
Bring your dependents' SSNs as they will be necessary to enroll your dependents in DEERS. Congrats & Good Luck! Matt SPC, AV US Army OCS Selectee Class 303-10 |

Shared account...? You have to give them BAH, at least.

rnCort:
Setup a joint bank account before you leave if you haven't done so already. That way your pay will be available to your family. Also setup a Power of Attorney so your family can conduct business on your behalf if necessary. While you are at BCT and AIT, you will receive BAH and Family Separation Pay ($~250.00) after 30 days. However, about $250 will be deducted from your first pay to cover the advance you will get on a Eagle Cash card used to buy stuff you will need. Also, you won't see your first paycheck until about 4-6 weeks into BCT. So budget accordingly. Matt SPC, AV US Army OCS Selectee Class 303-10 |
