I am writing to gather information relating to my daughter's former enlistment and potential future re-entry. She went to basic training in August 2007, completed BCT and finished half of AIT before being sent home in February 2008 for not adjusting and making a statement of wanting to kill herself. She was told that she could try to go back in to the Army after six months. She is now at the six month mark and told me the other day she wants to go back in. I do truly believe she is ready. What do you advise are her first few steps in this process?

Tell her to go to a psychiatrist to get proof that she is not mentally unstable. I doubt they will her take her back so soon, if they even take her back at all. Threatening suicide is very serious and that will likely keep her out of the military.
Here is some more detailed information. Does anyone know if this would be a six month of 24 month wait to try and go back in to the Army? I apologize for writing to this forum, but I am not getting any feedback from the RE forum. THANK YOU!

My daughter served almost seven months consisting of BCT and AIT only. Discharged March 2008 under AR 635-200 para, 5-17, RE-3, Sep Code JFV (other designated physical or mental conditions." She was discharged w/ adjustment disorder (MDEC/depression). The recruiter used this document (http://www.army.mil/usapa/epubs/pdf/r601_210.pdf ... Page 38, paragraph 4-13, #7) to classify my daughter with a "personality disorder" and told her she would have to wait two years before trying to re-enter Army service ... although when she was being let go, she was told six months. She does not have a personality disorder.
Secondly, how can my daughter get a copy of all her medical records regarding the evaluations, etc. that were done on her at Walter Reed? She has a psych evaluation scheduled in about 2-1/2 weeks.
